We have been sending earth designed machines into space beginning in 1957. Twenty years later, Voyager was launched and sent past the planets in our solar system, and then into deep space. Voyager’s mission is to seek life in deep space. We earthlings have also sent radio waves into space to see if there is any intelligent life out there. We have been waiting for a response from extraterrestrials with baited breath.
But what if the extraterrestrials know something we don’t. What if they have heard our calls, in radio signals, and declined to answer? Take a moment, if you will, to consider an intelligent alien species looking at the earth. We have polluted our earth mercilessly. Speaking of merciless behavior, look at how many millions of our fellow earthlings we have killed in the last hundred years of war, and we continue to do so. Almost every technological advance is applied to kill our fellow earthlings. We have millions starving to death on our planet, when there is enough food for them; it is just that certain people do not wish for certain people to have food. I was thinking about when I was very young and they told me people in Africa are starving. People in Africa are still starving decades later. Were our efforts in vain? Research reveals that, as of 2023, one-hundred forty million Africans were still undernourished. Microsoft’s Bill Gates asked this very question, and set out to help the starving in Africa. Progress is slow, eh?
So, taking an objective look at the earth and the people who populate it, what good could the aliens see in contacting us? Depending upon who they contacted, alien contact could disastrous. What if the aliens contacted Vladimir Putin, and he explained that his territory was taken from him and he is desperately fighting to get it back? What if China or Iran were in contact with the aliens, and convinced them that the United States was the evil power that needed to be stopped?
Earthlings are doing almost everything they can to kill other nations and take their territory, and any alien seeing this might not hold earthlings in very high regard; thus, not worthy of contact. What if there is a Darth Vader character out there, and they get their hands on Voyager, only to find where it came from, so that they can enslave the population of the earth?
Two scenarios: One, the alien contact is evil, and they will attack the earth, rob its resources, and enslave mankind. Two, they see us for what we are; a warmongering horde bent on exterminating each other, and simply ignore our transmissions seeking contact with extraterrestrial life. From the extraterrestrial perspective, we aren’t the kind of people the aliens want to hang out with, because as soon as we obtain their technology, we will use it to destroy each other. From the plow to atomic power, all of the technologies that were going to save the human race have only enhanced our abilities to kill one another; it is unlikely that will change.
