Git-R-Done, Not Quite

People are characterized by their actions more than their words. People have hidden agendas and different forms of communicating. Most underlings recognize when a boss or supervisors throws out a suggestion as simple as “the report will be helpful, it means “Git-R-done.”

Most agree with the premise that one is not guilty until proven guilty in court and each citizen’s entitlement to due process. Investigators know people found not guilty are guilty. The criminal trial of OJ comes to mind with technicalities, inaccurate testimony, judgment.

Officers, much like scientists, follow paths from events and witnesses seeking to prove or un-prove truth. Most investigators are happy to clear someone, as much as they are pleased to convict someone.

Trump and Bannon began their agenda with bigotry and distrust of persons, partisanship, and institutions. The Department of Justice (DOJ) nor the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) would be spared. Disbelief and doubt in State and Federal government institutions, judicial courts, governance, and the people honorably engaged with such institutions were quickly labeled “the swamp.”

Trump questioned the election process four years ago and then partially accepted it after winning, but still spread suspicion on several elements. The anti-government radicalization grew from “swamp thought” on the internet and outlandish additions such as QAnon.

Possibly because of the polls showing Biden ahead, before the election, Trump said Democrats had RIGGED the election. Trump lost the election then sought to overturn the election through court filings in several states without sufficient evidence.

On 12/8/20, after being defeated in court, he ordered senators to “fight” for him, tweeting, “@senatemajldr and Republican Senators have to get tougher, or you won’t have a Republican Party anymore. We won the Presidential Election by a lot. FIGHT FOR IT. Don’t let them take it away!”.

Trump told supporters to gather in DC on his behalf on Jan. 6. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania Congressman Scott Perry introduced DOJ official Jeffrey Clark to Trump because Clark said he was sympathetic to Trump’s view that the election had been stolen. Trump proposed Clark replace acting attorney general Jeffrey A. Rosen, who stood by the election results and had repeatedly resisted the president’s efforts to undo them.

Trump-backed away from the replacement after top department officials threatened to resign in masse from the DOJ. The Inspector General is already investigating whether administration officials improperly pressured the Atlanta US attorney. Trump’s perfect recorded call to the Atlanta election official is evidence he wanted the election of Biden overturned.

There is also evidence Trump considered Martial Law to overturn the election. On 11/9/20, Trump fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper and replaced the board with loyalists who called Obama a terrorist, one that documented federal investigators of harboring anti-Trump bias, and a friend of Michael Flynn described as “shady” and “inherently untrustworthy.” Both Republicans and Democrats were concerned with the appointments.

On 12/12/20, during a Trump rally, he tweeted, “Wow! Thousands of people forming in Washington (D.C.) for Stop the Steal. Didn’t know about this, but I’ll be seeing them! #MAGA. WE HAVE JUST BEGUN TO FIGHT!!!”

…a tragedy, an assault on our Capital Police, the Capitol, and the Electoral process.

On 12/19/20, after Peter Navarro claimed election fraud, Trump tweeted, “A great report by Peter. Statistically impossible to have lost the 2020 Election. Big protest in D.C. on Jan. 6. Be there, will be wild!”

On 12/26/20 after Christmas, he tweeted, “The ‘Justice’ Department and the FBI have done nothing about the 2020 Presidential Election Voter Fraud, the biggest SCAM in our nation’s history, despite overwhelming evidence. They should be ashamed. History will remember. Never give up. See everyone in D.C. on Jan. 6.”

From 1/1 – 1/3/21, Trump tweeted several announcements on the location and time of “StopTheSteal!” Trump retweeted @CodeMonkeyZ: “If you are planning to attend peaceful protests in DC on the 6th, I recommend wearing a body camera. The more video angles of that day, the better.”

On 1/4/21 in Georgia, he said, “If the liberal Democrats take the Senate and the White House — and they’re not taking this White House — we’re going to fight like hell, I’ll tell you right now… We’re going to take it back,”

Stopping the certification of overturning an election was on the agenda of Jan. 6. 2021. Donald Junior said the crowd was there to let the Republicans know it is not their party but Trump’s party, and they will not roll over by being a zero and not a hero with a need to fight for Trump. Trump’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, furthered the urge to fight with violence ahead of Trump by calling for “trial by combat.”

Trump said. “Our Country has had enough…We will not take it anymore, and that’s what this is all about. To use a favorite term that all of you people really came up with, we will stop the steal…We’re gathered together in the heart of our nation’s capital for one very, very basic and simple reason: to save our democracy…a need to ‘fight.'”

He added, “Unbelievable, what we have to go through, what we have to go through, and you have to get your people to fight. If they don’t fight, we have to primary the hell out of the ones that don’t fight. You primary them. We’re going to let you know who they are, I can already tell you, frankly.”

Then he had the crowd doubt his Vice President, “Republicans are constantly fighting like a boxer with his hands tied behind his back. It’s like a boxer, and we want to be so nice. We want to be so respectful of everybody, including bad people. We’re going to have to fight much harder, and Mike Pence is going to have to come through for us. And if he doesn’t, that will be a sad day for our Country because you’re sworn to uphold our Constitution. Now it is up to Congress to confront this egregious assault on our democracy.”

Then the order came when he said, “And after this, we’re going to walk down, and I’ll be there with you. We’re going to walk down. We’re going to walk down anyone you want, but I think right here. We’re going to walk down to the Capitol, and we’re going to cheer on our brave senators, and congressmen and women. We’re probably not going to be cheering so much for some of them, because you’ll never take back our Country with weakness. You have to show strength, and you have to be strong…Today, we will see whether Republicans stand strong for the integrity of our elections, but whether or not they stand strong for our Country, our Country. Our Country has been under siege for a long time, far longer than this four-year period.”

Trumps disguised his aspirations with words of, “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard” were drowned out by his repetition to “fight,” to be angry, to stop President-elect Joe Biden from taking office.

Trump supporters marched to the Capitol before he finished. Trump did not go to the Capitol. From a Donald Junior video, the Trump Enterprise watched the Capitol being attacked and breached just after 2 pm from a tent with music, smiles, and little or no concern. As the leader of the free world did with the Russian cyberattack, the Commander in Chief, watched the riot oblivious to his sworn oath to protect our constitution and country.

At 2:38 pm, Trump tweeted, “Please support our Capitol Police and Law Enforcement. They are truly on the side of our Country. Stay peaceful!” He later produced a video with claims about a fraudulent election, “We have to have peace. So, go home. We love you. You’re very special…Remember this day forever!”

Abraham Lincoln did not fear foreign invaders because of our national defense, yet warned that the destruction of our sacred democracy and U.S. institutions established by our Founding Fathers would come from within, domestic threat. One would think our constitution, the separation of powers, our free press, and our rule of law would be enough to prevent domestic terrorism.

Git-R-Done did not happen. What was done, was a tragedy, an assault on our Capital Police, the Capitol, and the Electoral process. Domestic insurgency on Jan. 6, 2021, endangered our Country worse than the foreign terror of 9/11.
